چکیده

Numerical Simulation of Three-Phase Flow in Deforming Fractured Reservoirs — The mathematical formulation of a three-phase, three-dimensional fluid flow and rock deformation in fractured reservoirs is presented in this paper. The present formulation accounts for the significant influence of coupling between the fluid flow and solid deformation, an aspect usually ignored in the reservoir simulation literature. A Galerkin-based finite element method is applied to discretise the governing equations in space and a finite difference scheme is used to march the solution in time. The final set of equations, which contain the additional cross coupling terms as compared to similar existing models, are highly nonlinear and the elements of the coefficient matrices are updated implicitly during each iteration in terms of the independent variables. A field scale example is employed as an alpha case to test the validity and robustness of the currently formulation and numerical scheme. The results illustrate a significantly different behavior for the case of a reservoir where the impact of coupling is also considered. Oil & Gas Science and Technology – Rev. Numerical Simulation of Single-Phase and Multiphase Non-Darcy Flow in Porous and Fractured Reservoirs

A numerical method as well as a theoretical study of non-Darcy fluid flow through porous and fractured reservoirs is described. The non-Darcy behavior is handled in a three-dimensional, multiphase flow reservoir simulator, while the model formulation incorporates the Forchheimer equation for describing single-phase or multiphase non-Darcy flow and displacement. The non-Darcy flow through a frac...

Simulation and Assessment of Surfactant Injection in Fractured Reservoirs: A Sensitivity Analysis of some Uncertain Parameters

Fracture reservoirs contain most of the oil reserves of the Middle East. Such reservoirs are poorly understood and recovery from fractured reservoirs is typically lower than those from conventional reservoirs. Many efforts have been made to enhance the recovery and production potential of these reservoirs. Fractured reservoirs with high matrix porosity and low matrix permeability need a seconda...

The Investigation of Numerical Simulation Software for Fractured Reservoirs

Based on percolation mechanism of fractured reservoirs and simulation technique, the numerical simulation software of fractured reservoirs has been developed on PC-Linux environment, which is on the basis of DQHY simulator of three dimensions and three phases. It can treat dual-porosity/singlepermeability and dual-porosity/dual-permeability model. The results of examples indicate that the perfo...

Numerical Modeling of Boiling Due to Production in a Fractured Reservoir and Its Field Application

Numerical simulations were carried out to characterize the behaviors of fractured reservoirs under production which causes in-situ boiling. A radial flow model with a single production well, and a two-dimensional geothermal reservoir model with several production and injection wells were used to study the two-phase reservoir behavior. The behavior can be characterized mainly by the parameters s...

SPE-168966-MS Modeling Analysis of Transient Pressure and Flow Behavior at Horizontal Wells with Multi-Stage Hydraulic Fractures in Shale Gas Reservoirs

Handling flow through fractured media is critical for transient pressure and flow analysis in shale gas reservoirs, because gas production from such low-permeability formations relies on fractures, from hydraulic fractures and fracture network to various-scaled natural fractures, to provide flow channels for gas flow into producing wells. This study presents a numerical investigation of pressur...
